Synopsis: "Set against the backdrop of Minnesota's unique True Team State meet, Men of Character follows the Mounds View High School track and field team on their quest to dethrone the long-reigning champions, Wayzata. Known as the ""evil empire"" and ""the giants,"" Wayzata has held the title for years, making this meet the most prestigious event of the season. The documentary delves into the stories of these young athletes, with a particular focus on Ryan Wirrer, a sophomore pole vaulter whose journey epitomizes the team's core values. After a traumatic accident mid-season, Ryan's determination and character led him to recover and perform beyond everyone's expectations at True Team State, thrusting Mounds View into the lead at a crucial point in the meet. Narrated by Head Coach Fleming, who provides insightful commentary on the season’s progression, the film also features interviews with various Mounds View track and field athletes.
